Horrible Bosses

I was really excited to see this one because I love a good comedy and the triple threat of Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day is sure to be funny.... and boy was it!

The concept behind the movie is pretty relatable to most because we have all had a boss that we weren't that fond of, but the bosses in the movie take it to the next level thus why they decide to try to "get rid of them."  All sorts of shenanigans throughout make for some pretty ridiculous fun.  I have to say though one of the craziest parts of the movie is Jennifer Aniston's character Dr. Julia Harris, she plays a super hot sexual harassing dentist that is so unlike her typical roles, but it works!

Overall it will make you laugh.... go see it, but leave the kiddos at home.

The Adjustement Bureau

This was a movie I really wanted to see in theaters but just never made it, so I was way excited when some friends invited us over for the 4th and we had some mighty delicious hot dogs and fixings followed by The Adjustment Bureau.

I love a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat and wondering what is going to happen next.  This movie does that really well and then adds some romance to make it a great movie mixture that both men and women will enjoy!

I don't want to give too much away so I will just say Matt Damon and Emily Blunt really have great chemistry on screen and I would highly recommend hitting up the Red Box for this one!

Rated: PG-13

*Violence
*Sexual Encounters (no nudity or anything graphic)

Green Lantern

I wasn't sure I wanted to see this movie in the theater (more of a Marvel girl myself), but when it was the only movie in theaters that we hadn't seen between us and another couple we decided we would give it a try, why not I do love the comics!

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the movie!  I was really concerned it would be super cheesey and so obvious it was digitally enhanced with all of the outer space scenes and strange creatures throughout but it was done really well and I was reminded why I LOVE comics.  Added bonus, let's just admit it ladies (most men will admit too) Ryan Reynolds is not bad to look at and he is in ridiculous shape for this movie and he also brings his comedic personality to his character Hal Jordon which made for a great combination and easy to watch.

Overall a fun movie you could take the whole family to, but I think you have to at least enjoy other comic movies to think this one was good.

Rated: PG-13

Sorry it has been too long!

So I have been a bit behind on my movie blogging but I intend to get all caught up today!  Get ready for reviews of Green Lantern, The Adjustemnet Bureau, Horrible Bosses, Hall Pass, Lincoln Lawyer, and Harry Potter Deathly Hallows: Part 2

Stay tuned!

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

First off the above was the fabulous t-shirt I bought and wore all day just for this occasion to represent the one and only Optimus Prime and my excitement for the new Transformers release!

I don't even know where to begin with Transformers: Dark of the Moon because it was all around AMAZING and quite possibly the best one yet or at least as good as the first one, which doesn't happen very often when talking about a third movie!  The story was so well written and I loved how this movie may have been action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat but still had lots of humor and great innuendos.  I wasn't sure how they were going to write Megan Fox or "Mikaela" out of the mix, but I will say they did a good job making the transition to "Carley."  Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is not only super hot, but she can act too and it doesn't hurt that Rosie and Shia have great chemistry.  My pick, keep Carley coming back!

The special effects in all of the Transformer movies have always been ridiculous but I feel like they really manage to take it to a whole new level in this movie by slowing down some of the transforming and fight sequences and creating new and more complicated characters, just so AMAZING to watch.  I am always left in utter awe of the people that work their magic on these movies!

One of the great parts of the movie is how they used actual events and footage that happened in the 1960's to further develop the plot.  Being that I wasn't alive in the 1960's I had not seen a lot of the footage from when the first launch to the moon took place and they use actual footage from those events which I really enjoyed.

The movie as a whole just worked and brought back the excitement I felt after watching the first!  It is over two and a half hours but I didn't even realize I was in there that long because I was enjoying the movie so much!  If you can't tell I am super jazzed and can't wait to go see it again!  MUST SEE in the theater Summer movie!

Rated PG-13
*Action
*Violence
*Sexual Innuendos

Besides the action they kept it pretty clean so families could go see it together!  ENJOY, I know I did!

True Grit

Well first off I have to admit I LOVE a good western and I was really excited to see True Grit in the theater but it just didn't happen.  So last night's Red Box excitement was non other than True Grit.  I loved every minute of it!  Jeff Bridges did an awesome job (I now know why he was nominated), Matt Damon pulled off the western cowboy role quite well, and I thought Hailee Steinfeld stole the show, what an up and comer!  Loved the sense of adventure and chase that was portrayed quite well.  So worth seeing if you love a good western and I really think you would enjoy it even if you don't!

I have been told that the original was better so I think that will be next on the Red Box.  I will let you know what I think ;)

Rated PG-13

*Violence - shoot outs (what else do you expect in a good western)
*Some Language

Bad Teacher

I was really excited to see Bad Teacher because I wanted to see if Cameron Diaz could pull off something besides the super sweet or similar type roles she usually plays and boy did she!  I loved her in this movie and Justin Timberlake did a great job as well taking on the super sensitive nerdy role.  Then we have Jason Segel, who is always good for a few laughs, and all three together have a great dynamic that made this movie lots of fun!

Worth a trip to the theater.... Absolutely!

Rated R

*Nudity - one bare breasted scene that lasts a few minutes
*Profanity used throughout
*Drug Use - they smoke weed on a few occasions
*Sexual Content, there is a dry humping scene that is ridiculously funny

The Dilemma

So I hit up the RedBox a few times this week and choice number two was The Dilemma.  I wasn't sure how to feel about this movie, when it was over I was confused and a bit sad.  It is listed as a comedy and a drama which I feel are oxymorons and not sure how both are successfully achieved, but the answer is The Dilemma and think that is why I was so confused because it needed to be one or the other and it wasn't.  I like a funny Vince Vaughn movie and I will admit he had a few funny scenes and I don't even think it was his lines that were but his delivery.

Overall I just don't think you can take a serious issue like finding out your best friends wife is cheating on him and make it funny, so for me it was a flop.

Rated PG-13

*Quick male butt shot
*Language
*Sexual references
*Adult Topics

Little Fockers

Well I have been putting off this post for a few days now because I really didn't have anything great to say about Little Fockers.  I liked the first two so I thought, why not?  Well they should have just stopped with the first two, because this one was terrible!  Not really funny, all over the place, and all together yawn worthy.  I am glad I only spent $1.20 at the Redbox and didn't end up seeing it in the theater.

Skip it!  Save your $1.20

Rated PG-13

*Some Language
*Sexual & Drug References

Just Go With It

So last night I decided to hit up the Red Box and Just Go With It was the pick of the night.  I wanted to see this one in theater, but just never made it.  I am an Adam Sandler & Jennifer Aniston fan so I figured it would be a fun rom-com for a Tuesday evening and that it was!  Really liked the movie as a whole and was pleasantly surprised Nick Swardson (Grandma's Boy) was in most of the movie too!

Full of laughs and romance, great for an evening at home with that special someone or the gals!  Totally worth the $1.09 I spent at the Red Box!

Rated PG-13

- Crude Language: occasional cursing, sexual and drug references

X-Men: First Class

First off the above is the t-shirt purchase that I made just for the release of X-Men: First Class, so hopefully this can give you an idea of how excited I was about this movie, wore it all day!  I have been a big fan of comics from a very young age and still am (yes I know what you are thinking.... Nerd, Geek I embrace them all).

X-Men: First Class takes to you back to the beginning when Charles Xavier (Professor X) and Erik Lensherr (Magneto) where still discovering the strengths of there powers and were dear friends.  As an avid X-Men fan this movie had my mind working from the start and took me full circle connecting all of the dots along the way!  If you have never seen any of the other movies you can still enjoy this movie, actually you might be better suited to see this movie then the others because then you wouldn't be backtracking.

By far my favorite X-Men movie to date!  So very well done, story was AMAZING, characters were AMAZING, action was awesome, and special affects were AMAZING (nothing looked fake)!!  If anyone out there is ready to go see it I would go see it again!  Yes that good!  Favorite movie of 2011 thus far!

Rated PG-13

-Action: they blow lots of stuff up
-Violence: nothing gory or gross
-Language: I really can't remember any regular cussing
-No Nudity: just Mystic in her blue body suit

*Can't wait to see what other avid comic fans think

Bridesmaides

Well I must say that people really built this movies up for me, I was told "My face hurt I laughed so hard" and I even heard "funnier than The Hangover."  So I was intrigued, it instantly turned into a must see for me.  I am a big fan of Kristen Wiig on SNL so I went in with really high hopes and expectations only to be let down.  I think people really built this movie up in my mind like it was a ridiculously funny comedy, when in reality it was a romantic comedy that was a bit sad.  I think if I new nothing about the movie and went in with a clean slate I would have been more impressed.

Overall it was a good movie and had some funny parts and a cute story about how crazy weddings can be but turned out to be a let down for me.

Rated R

-Use the "F" word a lot
-Sex scenes, but no nudity
-Barf, I am personally not a fan so I like to pre-warn others who aren't big fans

*Side note:  I noticed there are at least four parts in the trailer below that aren't even in the movie....

The Hangover: Part II

What can I say about The Hangover: Part II except HILARIOUS!!  This time Stu is getting married and his bride to be, Lauren is from Thailand thus why Stu is getting married in Thailand.  Well and what kind of wedding would it be without The Wolf Pack in attendance.

Yes the story line has reminiscence of the first movie, but they take it to the next level in Bangkok.  After a night of debauchery Phil, Stu, and Alan wake up in Bangkok not able to remember anything and Lauren's little brother Teddy (who happens to be the father's pride and joy) has gone missing.  So the hunt is on.... monkey's, drugs, boats, and the ridiculous Mr. Chow help reveal what really happened one crazy night in Bangkok!  Be ready for the unexpected!

Better than the first, no way.  Worth a trip to the theater, absolutely!  Super funny and a great follow up to the first and the pictures at the end, well all I can say is they are more ridiculous than the first movie and I wasn't even sure that was possible!  What can I say I LOVE The Hangover!!

Rated R

-Nudity: wienus & boobs
-Drug Use
-Foul Language: they use the "F" Word a lot
-Lots of sex talk

*Would leave the kids at home for this one, adult movie =)

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

In honor of the newest Pirates moving coming out on Friday, I had to show my enthusiasm so I wore my red skull scarf all day and too the movie, thank you Meghann Will!  Well I thought the 4th installment of Pirates of the Caribbean was AWESOME and included all the essentials: adventure, sword fights, action, a love interest, returning characters from the previous movies, and of course Captain Jack Sparrow!  Johnny Depp just does an amazing job (Captain Jack Sparrow is one of my favorite rolls Johnny Depp has ever played) and has great chemistry with Penelope Cruz whose character Angelica is a former love of Johnny Depp.  Angelica, Capt. Jack and a few other familiar faces take journey to seek out "The Fountain of Youth."

Lots of adventure along the way of course with some new characters, they introduce mermaids, a bible thumper as they call him, a father daughter duo, and a familiar face switches sides.  I have to tell you when I heard there were mermaids I was really excited thinking in relation to Ariel in The Little Mermaid, but these are not your typical mermaids, I will leave it at that just expect the unexpected!

I really enjoyed the story.  It was well done, they do incorporate past characters but if you haven't seen any of the other movies you could still go see this movie and enjoy it without thinking "I guess I should have seen the others first cause I don't know what is going on."  I think there will for sure be a fifth and I don't want to give anything away so just go see it!

Rated PG-13

-Lots of action
-Sword Fights: people do get stabbed but Disney does a good job of moving the camera before you actually see anything gory but you know what happened
-Some frightening events where they catch you off guard, made me jump
-No nudity, but the mermaids long hair is what covers their chest

Overall Disney did the best they could to keep it family friendly, depending on what your children typically watch maybe leave the younger ones at home.  You can watch the trailer below and it gives you an idea of what the movie entails!

Side Note: Stay through the credits their is a little teaser after the credits!

Never Say Never

Ok, I know what you are all thinking really Sarah Justin Bieber, but I have to say this kid has talent, heart and pretty sweet hair too!  The movie is basically a documentary of how he got started as an entertainer and then builds up to his Madison Square Garden performance.  So I have to say I found Never Say Never inspiring.

I wasn't sure what to expect but I knew I was intrigued after seeing the preview in theaters.  I don't like to judge a book by its cover so I watched it and LOVED IT!  I could have lived without the crying girls who are ALL obsessed with Justin and ALL want to marry him, but it took me back to my first concert get ready.... New Kids on the Block!  I tried to remember what it was like to be 10 again and have that starry eyed crush, I was a huge Joey McIntyre fan.  What I love about Justin Beiber was that he never gave up on his dream No after No after No, but he kept going.  Side note, I guarantee all the labels that passed on Justin are kicking themselves now for missing this cash cow =) I think it is a great reminder to never give up on a dream no matter how unattainable it may seem!

Overall I think the movie gave me insight into who Justin Beiber is: a small town guy from Canada who is down to earth, loves his family, his fans, his friends, and loves to perform!  A bit cheesy yes, but who doesn't love a little cheese.  Would I watch it again well.... Baby, Baby, Baby, Oh Baby YES!

Rated G

*Family Friendly - great for all ages

~Coming Soon: Pirates of the Caribbean On Strange Tides going to see it this weekend!!  Can't wait!

Fast Five

Fast Five was so much fun and keeps your adrenaline pumping throughout!  I have watched all five of the Fast and the Furious movies just to see if each would be better than the last, but the original was by far the best until now.  I have a hard time with sequels, prequels and so on when they don't include the original cast.  So in the 4th movie when they brought back Vin Diesel and Paul Walker I was thrilled.  In this 5th movie they bring back all of the main characters from each movie and it really works!  The story was good, the action was ridiculous, the ladies smokin' hot, and the cars well it is a Fast and Furious movie so you can just imagine!!  I loved every minute of it from start to finish and it kept me on the edge of my seat wanting more.  The way they leave it at the end this may be the last of the Fast movies, but I thought for sure these movies where done sometime ago.  Keep the original cast and I will keep watching =)

Rated PG-13
-Lots of action
-Nothing to gory or graphic blood wise
-Sexy ladies but no nudity

*If you go see it let me know what you think and I recently learned that if you stay through the credits there is a hint for the next movie!

It all began with an idea....

So last week I was at the movies, just sat down in my chair and the previews began.  Side note - I am a big fan of previews this is where Richard and I decide whether it is a MUST SEE or wait it out until Red Box.  One after another each more AMAZING than the next.... Summer Movie Previews!  Then it came to me, why not share my love of movies with others.  With so many great movies on the horizon.... The Hangover 2, X-Men First Class, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 just to name a few off the top of my head.

I thought it would be fun to share my thoughts every time I go to the movies or watch a new movie (also like to hit up the Red Box).  Hope you enjoy what is to come.... Happy Movie going!
